To investigate the background in educational movements on Indian Muslim society. To examine the development of female institutions of secondary and higher education on a western pattern in India, and concentrate on a number of institutions in areas where Muslims were dominant in the population or culture. Project relates to the whole problem of the relationship of religious and educational movements to political and social change in South Asia.
