FAIN: FT-12622-75

Columbia University (New York, NY 10027-7922)

To study patterns of political change in the U.S. government between 1781 and now. Both political institutions and political behavior have changed markedly during that period. Wording with the assumption that institutions and patterns of behavior change suddenly and discontinuously, the study will examine which model of change best describes changes in other institutions like the Presidency and the Supreme Court. The study will point out new ways to incorporate historical perspectives and materials in the teaching of both general and specialized courses on American politics and government.
