To continue research and to finish a book about the abortive attempt by individual Chinese and German soldiers and politicians between 1928-1938 to bring about an alliance between the two countries founded on long-range military and economic collaboration. The book focusses on one of the chief figures in this semi- clandestine connection, General Alexander von Falkenhausen (1878-1966), whose Chinese experience began in the Boxer War.
