Urbanization in Later Medieval England

To define the role and functions of urban centers on later medieval Europe, by studying the political, topographical, demographic, structural, industrial, commercial, intellectual, institutional and educational facets of the English town of Bury St. Edmunds from 1295 until 1530. Traditional medieval Latin and middle English manuscripts, and extensive time-series of governmental and ecclesiastical quantitative records will be subjected to computer and statistical analysis.
