The Talmud Class as a Sppech Event: A Socio-Linguistic Analysis

To complete an ongoing examination of speech behavior in a modern Orthodox Jewish Talmud class in order to determine to what extent the essential biculturality of modern Orthodoxy is displayed in the language choice, syntax, and intonational patterns of the speech community. Sociolinguistic analysis based on audio tapes of a Talmud class will contribute to the literature on biculturality, modern Orthodox Judaism and multilingualism.
