FAIN: FT-13941-78

Sally McLendon
Unaffiliated Independent Scholar (New York, NY 10021)

To study the traditional oral narrative of a small Native American group - the Eastern Pomo of northern California - particularly in their myths. Stipend will support PI in a field trip to the Eastern Pomo in order to check linguistic analyses carried out previously, to transcribe correctly earlier phonetically flawed recordings of 4 myths collected in 1902, and to investigate Eastern Pomo reactions to various translation alternatives.
