To compare the musical theories of Luscinius Ottomarus to those of other early sixteenth cent, musical theorists. Grantee recently discovered two treatises by Ottomarus, dated 1515 and 1536, which reveal an awareness of new harmonic concepts normally attributed to later theorists. Two months will be spent examining other little-known manuscript of this period to find if Ottomarus was unique in his progressive views.
