The Idaho State Historical Society (ISHS) is currently
engaged in a multi-year, significant effort to expand and improve its flagship
property, the Idaho State Historical Museum (Museum) in Boise. The state of
Idaho is responsible for the remodel and construction of the expanded Museum
building, while the ISHS is responsible for the design, fabrication and
installation of the new exhibits. The ISHS is applying for a $30,000 Chairman’s
Grant to support the implementation of one exhibition project called Origins,
whose central theme is origins of the unique Idaho landscape, and how Idaho’s
peculiar shape came to be formed. This origins concept will include multimedia
formats (e.g., a digital stream that acts as a physical and thematic pathway),
and animated, storytelling media projections in the Origins Theater, in which
the voices of native elders recount the origin stories of each of the five
tribes.
