Beverly D. Latimer (Project Director: May 1978 to present)

To document the human settlement and the aesthetic and recreational value of the Atchafalaya Basin in words, photographs, 16mm film, artifacts, paintings and oral history. The history of the Basin provides a classic example of Man being shaped by his environment, and his environment being shaped by him; and altered environment reconstructing Man's culture and life. Two exhibits will be mounted and a week-long festival of workshops, demonstrations, films, lectures, and a 24-page documentary publication are planned.
