Supports a comparative study of the transitions in female teenagers' roles in changing subcultures across the United States.

To study role transitions of females in American subcultures by interviewing adolescent females. Among cultures to be studied are Mennonites, Amish, Mormons, Yaqui, Papago, Hopi, two Northern fishing villages, a milltown in Maine, a farm family in Colorado, and Acadians in Louisiana.
