Goose Lake Basin Archeological Project

FAIN: GY-10025-72

Richard E. Hughes
Unaffiliated independent scholar

To recover and document elements of material culture from the prehistoric inhabitants of the Goose Lake basin with the aim of reconstructing culture history and delineating culture process in regard to the cultural ecology of lake-side adaptations and prehistoric subsistence regimes. To actively involve students in the methods and techniques of archaeological research, and to fill the void that all too often exists between classroom instruction and actual field experience. To demonstrate to students the relevance of archaeology to the understanding of their human heritage, thus allowing for the development of insights into and perspectives on their own society through identification with and projection into past lifeways.
