Through an examination of the evolution of discriminatory or segregative laws in Memphis, to examine the minority, historical, legal and social evolution of race relations in a localized area. The study will focus on the motivation behind the passage of these laws, during what period the laws were effective and how they affected Black citizens of Memphis. Material will be presented to secondary school students in the form of an audio-documentary and a study guide.
