El Dia de los Muertos Youth Project

To support a participatory cultural project related to the traditional Mexican-American celebration of the "Day of the Dead." Ten youth instructors will study history, literature, philosophy, and religion as they relate to an actual festival rich in ritual and tradition. Instructors will then organize projects and activities bringing the humanities to the Day of the Dead festival for 440 elementary school students. A slide show and written documentation will be disseminated to organizations interested in developing their own Dia de los Muertos curricula and projects.
