This NEH grant award will support efforts by Tarrant County College District (TCCD) to make available unique and relevant programming to TCCD students, faculty and staff, and the Tarrant County public. The award will enable TCCD to offer a diverse array of ancillary programs in support of the exhibition (to be sited at TCCD's Northeast Campus library). Such programs include the screening of a film on the life and work of Jacob Riis, a lecture by historian Dr. Rebecca Sharpless of Texas Christian University, and a collaboration between TCCD’s Northeast Campus History and Art Departments. Also, the internationally renowned Amon Carter Museum of American Art will sponsor a college night at the Museum, where students will experience photographs and art from the Progressive Era by viewing and engaging the Museum’s collection of art and photographs as highlighted in the Jacob Riis Exhibit. Relevant TCC history and arts courses will reflect on and expand upon these themes and activities.
