Part
of the cost of purchasing and installing a generator to supply electricity to
the museum.
During hurricanes Irma and María, water seeped into the museum’s storage areas and windows broke, leading to high relative humidity levels, a musty odor, and mold growth. Extended power outages on the island exacerbated these problems. The immediate need is to maintain the environmental and physical conditions required for the proper conservation of the museum’s building, art, and study collections. The museum seeks to purchase and install a generator to supply electricity in case of future power failures, which have become more frequent due to the fragility of the island’s electrical grid.
