FAIN: PG-280922-21

Galloway House & Village (Fond du Lac, WI 54936-1284)

Purchase of archival film and its application to the windows of the Galloway House to protect and preserve the historic items inside, as well as the purchase of costume storage supplies. The Victorian mansion documents the life of the Galloway family, key figures in the foundation and development of the City of Fond du Lac throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The items in the collections number over 100,000, including furniture, textiles, artwork, books and letters, ceramic, wood, and glass. They are used in local public programming, education, and research. The project would follow up on preservation issues enumerated in an NEH-funded general assessment survey by the Upper Midwest Conservation Association.

This project will support the purchase and application of archival film to the windows of the historic Galloway House, protecting and preserving the historic items inside. Additionally, costume storage supplies including appropriate hanger materials and acid-free paper will preserve the Fond du Lac County Historical Society's costume collection.
