To establish a Research Program in which scholars from a variety of disciplines will cooperate in examining ethnic and racial conflict in Southern Africa since the foundation of the Dutch settlement at the Cape in 1652. There will be seminars, workshops and panels. The extensive holdings in this field of the Yale library will be much utilized.
