A. M. McMahon (Project Director: February 1975 to October 1990)
To implement a series of finding aids to the Franklin Institutes ' holdings from 1824 to 1924. The Institute played a central role in promoting and introducing industrial technology to the nation, in providing technical education, and in serving as a forum for leading technologists, scientists and manufacturers. Adequate funding aids will in effect open the Institutes' manuscript and iconographic collections to questions being asked today throughout the humanities and the social sciences regarding the impact of technology on modern American culture.
