To continue the writing of the Cambridge History of China, funds are requested to provide academic year stipends for junior scholars commissioned to produce two volumes on the Ming Dynasty and to finance summer workshops encouraging critical dialogue on these chapters. Further scholarship must be stimulated before comprehensive coverage of the period can be achieved. The program will allow greater contributions from experts and promote additional study.
