Cataloguing 19th Century Printed Material

To prepare the uncatalogued and mis-catalogued sections of the Library Company's collections for searching by researchers of the American Philosophical Society-Mellon Foundation project and to make them accessible to the general public. Ten thousand items for the period 1840-1860, now effectively inaccessible, will be made available to the project researchers. Published guides which result will make known to the general public, scholars and bibliographers these newly catalogued items as well as the Library Company's resources in the areas of American philanthropy, agriculture, natural history, and education to 1860.
