The project will provide specialists and universities in the United States with an annotated, modern English translation of selected primary sources relating to the most formative event in the history of Brazil—the eighteenth-century gold rush. Five documents have been selected which describe the discovery of gold, the customs of the people, and the political climate of the time. The product is to be a monograph targeted for scholars, advanced-level students, and other specialists concerned with Brazil.
