To publish an annotated translation of the journal kept by a Russian in Sitha, Alaska, just after the territory had been sold to the U.S. This private journal is one of the few records documenting the experience of Russian and Creole settlers in Alaska who were suddenly submerged in a newly dominant, American culture. A chronology, glossary, bibliography and introduction will be included in the edition.
