To finish editing the translation of the Arabic medical text, On the Prevention of Bodily Ills in Egypt, of Ali ibn Ridwan. This 11th century account of the medieval Muslim understanding of health and the causation of disease, particularly plague, is a significant document for the social history of the Near East in the Middle Ages. The edition will be prepared with an index and an introduction discussing the historical background, medical literature on epidemic diseases, and manuscript sources used.
