Edition of the Letters of Helmuth James Von Moltke

FAIN: RL-*1264-77

Beate R. Von Oppen
Unaffiliated independent scholar

The project will provide a selected, annotated edition of the 1,600 letters written by Helmuth James von Molthe to his wife between 1929 and 1945. Molthe was an international lawyer who, while serving as a legal adviser to the German High Command, collected and led a group of associates dedicated to planning for Germany after the defeat and elimination of the Nazis. He was subsequently tried and hanged by the Nazis. Funding will provide for the annotation and introduction of the letters.
