To translate Rasidu d-Din's history of Gazan Xan's reign (1294-1304), the Ta'rix-e Mobarak-e Gazani. Written by a polymath, entrepreneur and statesman who served under five successful Mongol rulers, the work is a knowledgeable contemporary narrative account of the agrarian fiscal reform, financial overhauling, monetary and trade policy and army reorganization introduced in Gazan Xan's reign. Although the value of the work has long been recognized, the difficulty of its technical terminology has kept the text from being adequately presented in any Western language until now.
