To conduct a three stage study of religious beliefs which will (1) define religious beliefs, (2) survey lawmaker's beliefs and (3) compare lawmakers beliefs to those of Americans generally. The study will supply currently unavailable information on religious beliefs which will be helpful to public educators developing courses on comparative religion. Major outcomes will be a monograph, a taxonomy of beliefs and a scholarly book.
