Comparative Economic History of Southern Europe Since 1815

FAIN: RO-*1033-77

Columbia University (New York, NY 10027-7922)
Edward E. Malefakis (Project Director: May 1977 to October 1990)

The purpose of the project is to write a comparative economic history of four southern European nations — Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Greece — during the 19th and 20th centuries. The project will direct attention to four nations whose modern histories have been grossly neglected, and attempt to introduce a new conceptual category, "Southern Europe," into modern historiography.
