James E. Morrison (Project Director: August 1977 to October 1990)

To collect and interpret as much information as possible about country dances, cotillions, reels, jigs, minuets and waltzes popular before 1820, including accurate recreation of these dances. Also to establish the social function of these dances and dance-related occasions. The result will be a detailed survey of the project's findings, including important bibliographic material.
