A team of twenty scholars will investigate the relation of Early Christian literature of Greco-Roman magic, especially the Greek magical papyri. The result will be an English translation of selected magical papyri, a bibliography of relevant literature, and a collection of the literary and religious parallels between ancient magical and early Christian literature, to appear in project publications. These works should interest history scholars as well as anthropologists, sociologists and psychologists.
