Impeachment: The Framers Intent

FAIN: RO-*1039-77

Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH 44106-1712)
Maurice Klain (Project Director: May 1977 to October 1990)

The purpose of the project is: (1) to clarify the intentions of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution in this document's impeachment provisions, (2) to bring scholarly research into this as yet unexplored area of American history, and (3) to employ humanistic studies in various disciplines to deal with an issue of national concern. The project result is the publication of a monograph on impeachment as understood and practiced in this country's formative era, and a sourcebook of documents on impeachment now generally unknown, unused, and perhaps difficult to access.
