To assist the publication of the definitive biography by Dr. Margret Sterne, of Dr. William R. Valentiner, a major figure as a connoisseur, writer and art museum innovator. Dr. Valentiner was director of the Detroit Institute of Arts from 1924 to 1945. He built the most significant collections of art in America outside of N.Y. City and Washington, D.C., in 3 fields: Dutch and Flemish art, Italian sculpture and modern European art.
