To complete the research for a book-length study of the scientific career and public influence of John Tyndall. Study will examine the aims, philosophies, and conceptions of science that united Tyndall and his associates in London; it will examine the extent to which London constituted a unique scientific community; and it will attempt to assess the role of the London scientific community within the overall context of the intellectual and cultural environment of Victorian Britain.
