To support the AC13 program of post-doctoral grants for research on Chinese civilization which seeks to increase knowledge of historical China through basic research; to deepen understanding of China through projects which synthesize the fruits of a previous study into an original and mature overview of a given problem, age, or field; and, to enable scholars to maintain their unique skills through immersion over extended periods in intensive research.
