To research the history and development of Chinese calligraphy, emphasizing specific masters and phases as contributions to the history of art and Esthetic Theory. Research will focus on a study of the Six Dynasties' calligraphy texts and on an enquiry into the art of 2 late Ming-early Chinq calligrapher-painter, Wang To (1592-1652) and Fu Shan (1607-1684) and the inter-relationship of their painting, calligraphy and art theories.
