Catalogs of Early American Music in the Custody of the Moravian Music Foundation

FAIN: RO-12109-73

Moravian Music Foundation (Winston-Salem, NC 27108-0450)
Karl H. Kroeger (Project Director: June 1973 to present)

The early American Moravian immigrants of the mid-eighteenth century brought with them into Pennsylvania and North Carolina thousands of music manuscripts or published music of that time and fostered highly sophisticated musical activities in their frontier settlements. The various collections are to be cataloged in time for use by scholars interested in the musical scene during the colonial period, the Revolutionary War era, and the founding of the United States of America.
