To estimate the wealth of the thirteen American colonies and to make regional comparisons with databased on probate inventories. The results of the research will be published in a monograph and a supplementary volume. The results contribute to knowledge of the level of living, the distribution of wealth, economic strength, early origins of capital and other historical conditions in the American colonies and furnish a basis for estimating American economic growth rates before the 19th century.
