Project San Marco

Funds are given to the Center for Byzantine Studies to collect and systematize photographic, archaeological, and archival data on certain medieval mosaics in San Marco, Venice. The resulting archive will consist of a set of prints, 300 35mm. frames, 500 13x18cm. color transparencies a systematic record of archaeological observations and transcriptions of relevant documents from Venetian archives. This collection will be a research tool for medieval and early Renaissance art historiography.
