Petaluma: An Oral History

FAIN: RO-12793-77

California Historical Society (San Francisco, CA 94109-2840)
Kenneth Kann (Project Director: July 1977 to present)

To record the growth and disintegration of a Jewish immigrant agricultural community, using oral history techniques. The resulting 225 hours of final tapes of interviews will be transcribed and, along with other written and photographic evidence, will be available to researchers at the library of the California Historical Society. These materials will also provide the basis for a book analyzing the Petaluma settlement as a case study of the central themes of the immigrant experience in America.
