Jacquelyn D. Hall (Project Director: August 1977 to October 1990)

To study the transition of the Southern Piedmont from an agricultural to an urban industrial society in the first half of the twentieth century. Individual life histories will be recorded along with quantitative sources to explore the diverse patterns of development in five North Carolina communities. A monograph on the social transformation of this region will result. A second goal is the acquisition of a collection of oral histories.
