To produce a political narrative of the modern Washington State Supreme Court. PI will consider the relationship between the court and politics, will use role theory, and will analyze the written opinion of the justices. PI will examine correspondence, personal and telephone interviews, document review and newspaper analysis. Justices will be considered activist-restraintist or liberal-conservative and these role stances will be related to the written opinions of each of the justices in specific areas of the law. Each era of the court will also be labeled as to
