To compile computerized index of 18th century Anglo-American secular tunes. The bibliography of approximately 60,000 items will include dances, song collections, instrumental music, theatre music and military music. This project is the first phase of a National Tune Index, a data bank of American music that will provide a new multi-disciplinary research tool.
