To provide for students, faculty and research scholars of South Asian studies an extensive bibliographical and topical reference tool on the civilizations of South Asia from the earliest times to the present day. Because of the proliferation of publication on the subcontinent in the past 15 years and because of the greatly increased teaching and research on the area, there is great need for a major new bibliography.
