The project will provide volumes two (K-Q) and three (R-Z) of a census - catalogue of manuscript sources of Renaissance polyphonic music from the period 1400-1550. Through its physical characteristics and bibliography of individual manuscripts, the catalogue will move studies of Renaissance music to a higher level of sophistication by providing for greater control of the sources than has hitherto been possible.
