Installation of a permanent exhibition on the history of Chester County, Pennsylvania, using a story driven approach to highlight the role of area residents in shaping their community and the nation.

The Chester County Historical Society seeks funds from NEH to complete a new permanent gallery interpretation. This 6,000 sq ft exhibition encompasses 375 years of human history in the county and region. It is an inclusive interpretation that emphasizes the rich variety of stories about local people and their influence on the nation. It features the extraordinary permanent collections (library, museum, photo archives) and maximizes learning experiences for the general public and students of all ages. This funding request is for: 1) scholarly assistance, 2) completion of design and fabrication, and 3) audience and school program evaluation.
