A series of activities, including oral history interviews, a radio program, the preservation of WWII photographs and a traveling exhibition, to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Guam from Japanese occupying forces.

July 2004 marks the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Guam from Japanese occupying forces. Our project FAMILIES UNDER SIEGE: STORIES OF FAMILY LIFE IN JAPANESE OCCUPIED GUAM tells stories of survival from the perspective of local families. We will: Locate survivors; research, reproduce and display archived WWII Guam photographs; film and/or record oral histories/stories; present oral histories in a public forum; schedule a radio broadcast for Liberation Day; dramatize stories to be performed as vignettes on stage; create traveling exhibit package as final product.
