July 2004 marks the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Guam from Japanese occupying forces. Our project FAMILIES UNDER SIEGE: STORIES OF FAMILY LIFE IN JAPANESE OCCUPIED GUAM tells stories of survival from the perspective of local families. We will: Locate survivors; research, reproduce and display archived WWII Guam photographs; film and/or record oral histories/stories; present oral histories in a public forum; schedule a radio broadcast for Liberation Day; dramatize stories to be performed as vignettes on stage; create traveling exhibit package as final product. |
