To support a grant program for locally generated proposals, a special initiative of the Council's traveling Road Scholars, the 7th annual Great Salt Lake Book Festival, the Utah History Fair, and the Utah Oral History Consortium.

The Utah Humanities Council proposes a diverse array of We the People activities using a combination of proven formats and a new initiative. UHC has already announced a Request for Proposals for projects exploring significant themes and events in American history and identified a number of history topics as part of our Road Scholars Speakers Bureau. The 2004 Great Salt Lake Book Festival will feature at least one American historian. UHC will partner with the Utah History Fair. In collaboration with the Oral History Consortium, UHC will plan and implement a statewide oral history initiative.
