The proposed one-week workshop will expose participants to the history and landmarks of the southern Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee. The workshop will include presentations by scholars, exploration of primary source materials, oral history panels featuring a variety of civil rights history-makers, and field trips to historical sites throughout Mississippi and Memphis. The project is a collaboration between The Hamer Institute at Jackson State University (Jackson, MS), Rhodes College (Memphis, TN), and the National Civil Rights Museum (Memphis, TN). The workshop will be conducted twice for two distinct groups of 25 community college faculty. |
