Hunter College of the City University of New York seeks a National Endowment for the Humanities planning grant of $40,000 to help cover approximately half the anticipated costs associated with planning and launching a project aimed at interpreting and re-examining the legacy of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt in the unique setting of their former New York City home -- a double townhouse located at 47-49 East 65th Street in Manhattan's Upper East Side, known as Roosevelt House. This project will result in a master interpretive plan for Roosevelt House that combines thematic exhibitions, public programs, educational materials and web-based content to deepen historic interest in the Roosevelts, illuminate previously unknown aspects of their lives, and examine the relevance of their achievements to current social and political issues. |
