Implementation of a panel exhibition about the life and times of Abraham Lincoln traveling to 40 sites, with a companion publication, curricular materials, summer workshops serving 200 teachers, and reading and film discussion programs for the public.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation (ALPLF) requests $400,000 to help underwrite the creation and circulation of Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America, a traveling exhibition and ancillary educational activities examining the life and times of America's 16th president. For two years beginning in July of 2008, the ALPLF will commemorate the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth by circulating two copies of the exhibition to 40 public libraries and small to mid-sized historical societies and museums throughout the United States. The ALPLF will partner with the Public Programs Office of the American Library Association (ALA) and Renew Media to produce a menu of programs, ranging from lesson plans and traveling trunks for school children, workshops for teachers, and lectures, films, and reading and discussion sessions for adult audiences.
