The project, Bringing Humanities to Life, will fund a permanent endowment to support the humanities at Bismarck State College. Proceeds from the endowment will ensure BSC's capacity to meet the demand for workforce skills and lifelong learning acquired through the humanities and which are integral to flourishing in all aspects of life. Project activities will be extended into the community to provide educational experiences that focus on the following: 1) how to solve problems with people whose views differ from their own; 2) learn about ethical issues and public debates important in their field; 3) create direct learning experiences working with others to solve problems important in their communities; 4) build knowledge, judgment, and dialogue skills to ensure integrity and vitality of democracy; 5) acquire broad knowledge of their own as well as other cultural traditions; and 6) improve written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. |
